About Us
Welcome to Excel Tuition Education Centre– the Company was set up in 2008 with the intention of raising the standard of education and learning in Birmingham. We cater to a wide range of children; some come to us to prepare for SATs, GCSE or 11+ examinations, others to catch up on schoolwork after an illness or holiday and some to simply improve on their skills and do better at school. We specialise in 11+, Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. Children start learning with us as young as 7 and up until their GCSE’s. We are proud to say that we have had much success over the years with many of our children gaining grammar school places as well as passing their GCSE’s. We treat every child as our own and monitor their progress and learning whilst working very closely with parents, this is to ensure that children are completing their homework and any difficulties they face can be worked through together. Our aim being to make your child an independent learner. Class sizes vary but to ensure your child gets maximum support we have 1 assistant to every 5 children.
11+
We have an excellent syllabus in place that has been given much thought and researched over many years, so rest assured that your child will be in good hands and their development made a priority. We cover all four subject areas namely, Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. Homework is set weekly and is logged by the children and teacher in their homework logs. Parents are required to ensure their child/ren complete the work and are encouraged to mark it. This is something we have found to be particularly beneficial for the children as they receive immediate feedback and are more motivated by parent involvement. Parents are encouraged to take a keen interest in their child’s development and learning.
Initial Assessment.
Each child before starting will have to assessed for suitability. This will involve them doing an initial assessment that will highlight their strengths and weaknesses. The assessment will cover all the key areas: namely, Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning, Maths, English and timetables.
Parent Consultation
After the assessment the teacher will have a consultation with the parents. This normally takes about half an hour to discuss their child’s results. After which if your child is successful an individual action plan will be formed. The cost of the initial assessment is £25 and can be booked by ringing 0121 369 0118. The assessments take place on Saturday and Sunday morning between the hours of 10am – 1pm. It is advised that your child brings a snack with them as there will be a 15 minute break in between.
Maths & English
Excel tuition also provides support to children wanting to improve their Maths & English levels starting from Key Stage 2 all the way through to GCSE. Key Stage 2 children follow a similar course of study to 11+ students but obviously not with the same amount of intensity or depth. Homework is set weekly and their progress monitored. All children are assessed before starting their learning with us so that an individual education plan can be formed so their learning is focused and specific to their needs. This can be discussed with the tutor during consultation. The cost of the initial assessment is £25. All of our children and parents benefit greatly from this because it is made apparent right from the start what their strengths and weaknesses are. The syllabus compliments what they are learning in school but with much greater depth and understanding, helping them to excel in their learning.
Syllabus & MaterialCoverage of the syllabus is focused on the demands of the final examinations and particular attention is paid to exam techniques; the emphasis on testing under timed exam conditions is an essential part of the service we offer.The key elements in our teaching method are intensive tuition in small groups or one-to-one tuition, close monitoring of personal performance and regular exam practice.We insist on strict punctuality in the attendance of lessons and the completion and submission of homework. The environment is friendly and welcoming, the tutor is experienced and enthusiastic, and the atmosphere positive and conducive to success.We offer courses at reasonable fees with highly qualified staff. Parents should be aware that they will have to purchase core course material whether personally or through the tuition centre. However, worksheets and supplementary material will be provided free.
Director/Tutor.
Excel Tuition is a professional, private and personal service and is currently managed by the Director Mr.M.M.Mirza (BA Hons/QTS). Alongside him there is also a pool of experienced staff and assistants. He is a qualified teacher with over 10 years teaching experience and is a registered OCR Examiner and Assessor. He has over 5 years teaching experience with preparing children for their 11+ tests. He has taught at both primary and secondary level, as well as working in both independent and grant maintained schools.

The Excel Tuition Centre is well situated in the peaceful location of Bordesley Village, Bordesley Green near to the Birmingham City Football Club, close to the centre of Birmingham with excellent car parking facilities.
